It is looking at the power input from both the turn signal/brake light wires. I may have a solution to the potential clearance issue with your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the T@B Nucamp 400 Tear Trailer. The solution is an extended ball like the Brophy Ball Mount - 3" Rise, 4" Drop - 14-5/8" Long - Aluminum - 8,000 lbs # EA40. An extended ball mount will give you extra room between your vehicle and trailer.

The Fastway systems, such as your Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-0800 does not actually have any type of friction coating like some other systems. It is purely steel-on-steel aside from the initial paint. There isn't a spray paint or any type of paint that is going to refresh the system, as the metal-on-metal is perfectly normal. From what I could find, the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not come with a factory brake controller. However, you do have a factory port for an aftermarket controller to plug directly in to.
